What are convertibles?
Convertibles are a hybrid asset class that features some of the characteristics of bonds and some of the properties of equities. The hybrid nature of a convertible makes it a unique asset class.
The M&G Global Convertibles Fund seeks to maximise the balance of risk and reward by investing in convertibles that offer bond-like protection on the downside but with meaningful participation in the upside of equity markets.
Your investment could include global convertible assets that:
- Are issued in any country, including emerging markets
- Have direct bond exposure or via a combination of instruments
We might also use derivative instruments to manage the risk profile of the fund, investing the remainder in:
- Collective investment schemes
- Money market instruments
- Cash and near-cash
