M&G UK Growth Fund
Garfield Kiff
Fund Manager: Garfield Kiff
Funds Managed: M&G UK Growth Fund
The Fund invests principally in the equities of UK companies with high growth potential with the sole objective of capital growth. Income considerations are ignored.
The M&G UK Growth Fund holds a diversified portfolio of UK equities. The fund manager is solely responsible for every investment decision in the portfolio. However, he bases many of his decisions on detailed research undertaken by M&G’s team of equity analysts, each of whom is a specialist in covering individual sectors of the market.
The portfolio is diversified and actively managed; the fund manager takes a bottom-up stockpicking approach, employing a long-term view. Stock selection is focused upon finding undervalued quality growth companies. Key measures of quality include factors such as barriers to entry, growth prospects and management capabilities. Once 'quality' companies are identified, the manager applies a number of valuation metrics to ascertain that stocks entering the portfolio are attractively valued.
A team of risk specialists regularly monitors the portfolio to ensure that the manager is aware of all intended and unintended biases in the fund.
Garfield Kiff joined M&G's smaller companies team in February 2000 as an analyst. He became fund manager of the M&G UK Growth Fund in December 2007. Before joining M&G, Garfield worked as a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ real estate group. Garfield graduated from the University of Liverpool with a first class honours degree in economics. He is a CFA charterholder.
